FAQ
-
Are your therapists insured and registered?
Each of our Occupational Therapists is fully insured to provide assessment and treatment to you.
They are also registered, as is required by law with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
You can check the HCPC register here and also read about what health care professionals have to do in order to register and maintain professional standards.
-
How do I decide whether your services are right for me?
We offer a free, no-commitment, 15 minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your occupational therapy needs. This helps you to understand more about what we offer and helps us to ensure that we are the right people to help you.
-
How do I pay for my Occupational Therapy?
We accept cash, cheques and online payments.
We do prefer online payment which can be made via a secure link, however, we understand that some people may prefer other methods.
We ask that payment is made within 24 hours of completion of an assessment or session.
-
Can I cancel at any time?
You can cancel our services at any time and, following your initial assessment, are under no obligation to proceed with treatment sessions or any follow up.
We do ask for 24 hours notice of cancellation of any confirmed appointment however. This is to ensure that we are able to offer our services to others on our waiting list.
-
Can you help me or my relative with personal care such as getting washed or dressed?
We are not a home care service. However, we can work with you or your relative to establish what your needs are in these areas and can either help to increase your independence so you can manage these things yourself, or recommend on the type and frequency of home care you might need.
Some people find that once they start a rehabilitation or independence programme, they need less home care than was originally planned as they get back to doing things independently again.
-
Is my data safe?
Any information we collect from you during the course of any enquiry you make with us and/or any treatment you undertake is treated according to our data and privacy policy.
Your information is stored electronically within a safe system which only the partners of You Matter Occupational Therapy can access.
Any associated party (for example, our accountant) is not party to any identifiable data at any time.
-
Can I request a particular therapist?
Our service is unique as we are therapists who have worked together for a long time. We are also friends and are aware of each others strengths and areas of speciality.
Once we have met you, and carried out your initial assessment, we will ensure that the therapist best suited to help you reach your goals is the one you are matched with.
It may be that some of your goals need the expertise of more than one of us and, if this is the case, we will work together to help you to achieve them – this will be at no extra cost to you.
-
Can someone be with me for my assessments or treatments?
Yes, of course. We encourage you to have a family member, friend or carer with you for your assessments and/or treatment if you feel that this would be helpful.
-
Do you carry out visits in the evenings and on weekends?
Yes we do. One of the benefits of our service is that it is entirely patient-centred. This means that if you would prefer an evening or weekend visit, we will be able to help.
We do not work later than 7pm.
